Guide
Using AnyCaptions.
From a transcribed edit to animated captions in a few clicks. First draft: review before launch.
Install and activate
- Download the installer, quit Premiere, and run it. Restart Premiere.
- Open Window → UXP Plugins → AnyCaptions.
- Your 14-day free trial starts the first time you click Add captions (no card needed). To use a subscription, open the ⚙ menu → License, paste your key and click Activate.
Make captions
- Edit your video, then transcribe the talking clips (Premiere’s Text panel → Transcript → Transcribe).
- In the panel click Get words from timeline. It reads each clip’s transcript and lines the words up with your cuts, trims and constant speed changes.
- Choose a Template (a ready-made text style and animation), then fine-tune it with the groups below.
- Click Add captions to sequence. A caption layer is added on a new video track at the top. From then on, every change shows straight away in the Program monitor.
The panel, top to bottom
- Get words from timeline: reads the transcript. Re-run it after re-cutting; your look and edits are kept.
- Templates: ready-made looks. Save your own with Save current template…
- Animation: how each caption comes in (pop, bounce, fade, slide, word by word…) and its speed.
- Words on screen: how many words show at once (1 to 10).
- Grouping: lines, letters per line, breaks at sentences and pauses, filler words, bleeping, case, punctuation, timing nudge.
- Text: font, size, colour, letter and line spacing.
- Outline, Shadow & Background: outline, shadow, and a box behind each line or the whole caption.
- Spoken word: highlight colour, a box behind the word, karaoke fill, and word size.
- Position: height, left/right, text width, alignment and tilt.
- Captions: every caption, to correct words, adjust timing, split or merge, or delete.
Each group has a Reset button at its top right that puts that group back to its defaults. The Reset button next to Undo and Redo resets everything, after asking you to confirm. Resets can be undone.
Editing captions
- Click a caption’s time to jump there. Edit the words directly in the box and the timing stays with them. ✕ deletes a caption.
- Edit beside a caption adjusts its start and end, nudges its timing, splits it after a word, or merges it with the next one.
- Undo and Redo (or Cmd/Ctrl+Z) reverse the last 50 changes. The panel’s history is separate from Premiere’s own Undo.
- The caption layer can be trimmed, cut or moved: captions always follow the sequence’s time. Extend the layer if you add time at the end.
- Export .srt saves the captions for YouTube, Instagram and other platforms.
Your license
Your subscription works on 2 Macs. When a trial or subscription ends, the panel becomes read-only and new renders show a small watermark. Projects you captioned while subscribed keep rendering without it on those Macs. Licensing never stops an export. Manage or cancel any time in ⚙ → License → Manage subscription, or on the account page.
