Privacy Policy

Lightmyst (ABN 20 698 858 244), Australia (“Lightmyst”, “we”) runs AnyCaptions and anycaptions.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and your choices. We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

When you buy: your name (if you give it), email address, country and billing details are collected by Stripe Managed Payments (Link), our payment provider, which then shares your email, customer and subscription IDs with us. We never receive your card details.

When you use the Software: a random install ID, your Mac’s name (for example “Studio MacBook”), the Software version, and activation and last-seen times. For free trials we also keep a salted hash of your IP address, which lets us limit repeated trials; we do not store the raw address.

When you contact us: your email address and what you send us, including any diagnostic information you choose to paste.

When you visit anycaptions.com: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs. We do not use advertising cookies or trackers. Stripe Managed Payments (Link)’s checkout may set its own cookies when you open it.

What we do not collect

We do not receive your videos, audio, captions, transcripts or project files. The Software works on your computer and sends nothing about your projects to us.

Why we use it

To sell and deliver your subscription, email your license key, activate and renew your license on up to 2 Macs, provide support, prevent abuse and fraud, meet tax and accounting obligations, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

Who handles it

Stripe Managed Payments (Link) (payments, taxes, invoices; merchant of record), Cloudflare (website hosting and our license database), and Maileroo (sending license-key emails). These providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States and Europe. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it in line with the Privacy Principles. We may also disclose information where the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep license and billing records while your subscription exists and for as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes (generally up to 7 years for financial records). Trial records are kept as long as needed to prevent repeated trials. You can ask us to delete other personal information.

Your rights

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, contact us first; you may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Security

License keys are stored encrypted, requests use HTTPS, and licenses are signed so they cannot be forged. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected people and the regulator where required by law.

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version.
