Terms of Service and License

These terms apply to your use of AnyCaptions, a plugin for Adobe Premiere Pro on Mac, and to the anycaptions.com website. AnyCaptions is provided by Lightmyst (ABN 20 698 858 244), Australia (“Lightmyst”, “we”, “us”).

Last updated 21 October 2026.

1. Agreement

By installing or using AnyCaptions (the “Software”), starting a free trial, or buying a subscription, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use it. If you use the Software for a business, you confirm you can accept these terms for that business.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on up to 2 Macs that you own or control, for your own projects, including paid client work. Videos you make with the Software belong to you; we claim no rights to them or to your captions.

You must not share your license key, share or resell the installer, rent or sublicense the Software, remove ownership notices, or reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the Software or its license checks, except where the law allows this despite this restriction.

The Software remains our property. Adobe, Premiere Pro and Creative Cloud are trademarks of Adobe Inc.; AnyCaptions is not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe. The Software requires a supported version of Premiere Pro, which you must license separately from Adobe.

3. Free trial

Your 14-day free trial starts the first time you use Add captions in the Software. No payment details are needed. One trial is available per installation. When the trial ends, the Software becomes read-only and shows a small watermark on rendered video until you subscribe.

4. Subscription, price and billing

AnyCaptions is a subscription, currently US$14.99 per month or US$119.99 per year (prices include or exclude local taxes as shown at checkout). It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.

New subscriptions are sold through Stripe Managed Payments (Link), our merchant-of-record service. Stripe handles checkout, applicable sales taxes, invoices and payment. The buyer terms displayed at checkout also apply to your purchase. We never see your card details.

We may change our prices for future renewals by giving you notice before the change takes effect; you may cancel before it does.

5. Cancelling, expiry and what keeps working

You can cancel at any time in the plugin (menu → License → Manage subscription), on our account page, or in Stripe’s customer portal or Link. You keep full use until the end of the period you have paid for; we do not refund the unused part of a period except as set out in our refund policy or where the law requires.

After your subscription or trial ends you can no longer add or edit captions. Projects you captioned while subscribed continue to render and export without a watermark on the Macs where they were activated. We will never stop or fail an export because of licensing.

6. Activation and license checks

The Software contacts our license server to start a trial, activate a key, deactivate a Mac, and renew its license roughly monthly. This involves your license key or a signed license token, a random install ID, your Mac’s name and the Software version (see our privacy policy). Rendering and exporting work offline.

If a payment is reversed (for example a chargeback), or a license is used in breach of these terms, we may revoke it.

7. Updates and availability

We may release updates, change features, and improve or remove functionality. We aim to keep the Software working with current versions of Premiere Pro but do not promise compatibility with every version or setup. Keep backups of your projects.

8. Warranties and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. Subject to that, the Software is provided “as is” and we give no other warranty, including that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Subject to the above and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss of data, projects, income or profit, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where our liability cannot be excluded, it is limited, at our option, to resupplying the Software or paying the cost of having it resupplied, and in any other case to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Ending this agreement

You may stop using the Software at any time. We may suspend or end your license if you materially breach these terms. Sections 2, 8, 9 and 10 continue after it ends.

10. General

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues. We may update these terms; the version on this page applies from the date above, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
